Is Jesus Christ Really GOD?

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” John 5:38

More specifically, is Jesus Christ the GOD of the Bible?

When you come across any person who is involved with a Christian cult or false religion is they all seem to have one thing in common: they may believe in Jesus but deny His deity. Even those who “accept” the deity of Jesus, they do not accept His unique deity, maintaining that Jesus Christ is one of many gods, or that the true nature of Jesus Christ is divine in the sense that everyone’s nature is divine.

A lot of the world believes in a Jesus but it is not the Jesus revealed in the Bible. The Jehovah’s Witnesses claim Jesus Christ is the Archangel Michael. The Mormons believe Jesus Christ is the spirit brother of Lucifer. Muslims believe Jesus Christ is not the only begotten Son of God. Black Hebrew Israelites deny Jesus Christ is God. Even though the aforementioned cults will claim to believe in the Bible they somehow miss that the Bible asserts Jesus is God.

The demonic spirits communicated through channeling deny the deity of Jesus. “Jesus Christ. The spirits teach that Jesus is an evolved spirit or a man just like us. Jesus was the person who highly emulated the “Christ spirit,” which is said to be part of us all. The spirits say that Jesus died and evolved to a higher state of existence. One spirit confesses that Jesus was only a representative of the impersonal divine force living in all men (the Christ spirit), and that Christians who believe in the biblical Jesus “worship a dead Christ.” But the Bible teaches that Christians worship a living Christ, that Jesus is the Christ, and that He is fully man and fully God in one Person. He is the unique Son of God (Luke 2:11; John 1:1; Rom. 1:4; Phil. 2:1-9; Titus 2:13).” [Source]

One example in particular is the medium Kahlil Gibran’s In Jesus, the Son of Man. In it it reads “the apostle “John” reveals that Jesus was merely a man The “Christ” is the God part of Jesus and also of all people. Thus, “many times the Christ has come into the world and he has walked many lands” (p. 42). “Jotham” of Nazareth states of Jesus, “He was not a God, he was a man like unto ourselves…” (p. 109). Barca, a merchant of Tyre, comments, “I believe that neither the Romans nor the Jews understood Jesus of Nazareth, nor did his disciples who now preach his name” (p. 112). “The Galileans would make a god of him and that is a mistake” (p. 113).”

Satan knows if a person believes in a false Jesus they will be lost. The Bible warns about the preaching of a false Jesus. “For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.” 2 Corintinthians 11:4

The following are multitudes of scriptures proving Jesus Christ is really GOD – He is the uncreated Creator of all. He is Yahweh in the flesh. I made it to witness to Jehovah’s Witnesses but it can be useful to witness to others in cults or false religions or any other person who denies the deity of Jesus or the Trinity but believes in the scriptures.

Most, if not all, the scriptures posted use the King James Bible.

John 17:5, 24

How come you’re not a witness for Jesus? (This question goes more in depth in this video) Jesus said you will be my witnesses to the ends of the earth.

YAHWEH

JESUS

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8

God said He is the first and the last and there is no god beside Him. Yet Jesus calls Himself the first and the last and the Almighty (You can watch this video explaining it).

YAHWEH

Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the Lord [Yahweh], the first, and with the last; I am he. Isaiah 41:4

JESUS

17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, ‘Fear not; I am the first and the last:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.’” Revelation 1:17-18

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord [Κύριος or Kyrios], which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.(Revelation 1:8)

John referenced Jesus as the one saw by Isaiah in Isaiah Ch. 6. The one Isaiah saw was Yahweh.

JESUS

“37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.” (John 12:37-41)

YAHWEH

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord [Yahweh] of hosts.6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.” (Isaiah 6:1-10)

Who laid the foundations of the earth and why does God call the Son God in Hebrews when there is only one God and all other gods are false gods according to scriptures? The Psalms passage is about God but applied to Jesus in the NT.

YAHWEH

24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.Psalm 102:24-27

JESUS

But unto the Son he saith,Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.’” Hebrews 1:8a, 10-12

God’s word will never pass away and neither will Jesus’ word because He is God.

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Isaiah 40:8

JESUS

31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.” Mark 13:31; cf. Matthew 24:35

God will give everyone according to their works. Jesus said He will give everyone according to their works because He is God.

YAHWEH

11 God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.12 Also unto thee, O Lord [Yahweh], belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.” Psalm 62:11-12

18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first…23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.” Revelation 2:18-19, 23

Who sanctifies you? God sanctifies you. Jesus said you are sanctified by faith in Him.

YAHWEH

13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord [Yahweh] that doth sanctify you.” Exodus 31:13

Who knows the hearts and minds of everyone? Wouldn’t that make that person have omniscience? How can an angel have omniscience?

YAHWEH

And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord [Yahweh] searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.” 1 Chronicles 28:9

JESUS

18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first…23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.” Revelation 2:18-19, 23

“16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven. 17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.” Luke 11:16-17

“23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. 24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, 25 and needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.” John 2:23-25

“17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.” John 21:17

Out of the mouth of babes praise goes to God. Jesus applies the Psalm scripture to Himself.

YAHWEH

O Lord [Yahweh], our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. Psalm 8:1-2

JESUS

15 And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were sore displeased,16 And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise? Matthew 21:15-16

Yahweh is a stone and stumbling rock. Jesus is a stone and a stumbling block.

YAHWEH

13 Sanctify the Lord [Yahweh] of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.14 And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.” Isaiah 8:13-14

JESUS

If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.1 Peter 2:3-8

“33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” Romans 9:33

Prepare the way for God (or Yahweh) reads the scriptures. Then Jesus comes along. Matthew and Luke applies the Isaiah scripture to Jesus.

JESUS

12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.” Revelation 1:12-18

God’s feet will stand on Mount Olives. It will be fulfilled when Jesus returns with His holy ones.

YAHWEH

Behold, the day of the Lord [Yahweh] cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the Lord [Yahweh] go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the Lord [Yahweh] my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.” Zechariah 14:1-5

JESUS

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey. Acts 1:9-12

Yahweh said no one can deliver a person from His hand. Jesus said no one can deliver a person from His hand.

Whose name do you call on for salvation?

YAHWEH

32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord [Yahweh] shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord [Yahweh] hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord [Yahweh] shall call.” Joel 2:32

JESUS

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord [Jesus] shall be saved.” Romans 10:9-13

Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their’s and our’s:” 1 Corinthians 1:2

21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord [Jesus] shall be saved.” Acts 2:21

Every knee bow and tongue shall confess to whom? Paul applies the Isaiah scripture to Jesus. The Isaiah scripture is about Yahweh.

YAHWEH

23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.24 Surely, shall one say, in the Lord [Yahweh] have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.” (Isaiah 45:23-24)

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. (Micah 5:2)

Who Will Reign From Jerusalem? It is Jesus but is referred to as Yahweh.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited. Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the Lord [Yahweh] of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously. (Isaiah 24:21-23)

“Thus saith the LORD [Yahweh]; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain.” (Zechariah 8:3)

“And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD [Yahweh] of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.” (Zechariah 14:17)

“5 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord [Yahweh], that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, The Lord [Yahweh] our righteousness.” (Jeremiah 23:5-6)

“8 And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be. And the Lord [Yahweh] shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord [Yahweh], and his name one.” (Zechariah 14:8-9)

The Bible is clear from beginning to end that only God is to be worshiped.

For examples in Exodus 23:24 “24 Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images.”

2 Kings 17:35“35 With whom the Lord [Yahweh] had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:”

It is the first commandment of the 10 Commandments, in Exodus 20 it reads “And God spake all these words, saying,2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;”

In Romans 1:25 it reads “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen”

Those who worshipped other gods were commanded to be killed!

Deuteronomy 13:6-12 “If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.10 And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.11 And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.12 If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which the Lord thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying,”

Jesus makes it clear that God is only to be worshipped:

Matt 4:10- “10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” [Quote from Deut 6:13]

Peter knows only God is worthy of worship:

“25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. 26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.” Acts 10:25-26

Angels know only God is worthy of worship:

“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Revelation 14:6-7

“And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelation 19:10

“8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.” Revelation 22:8-9

But Jesus is worshipped:

Matthew 8:2-3 “And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Matt 9:18 “18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.

Matthew 14:33 33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

Matthew 15:25 “25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

Matthew 14:33 “33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.”

In John 9:35-38.”35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.

Matthew 28:17 “17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

Matthew 28:9 “And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

Luke 24:51-53 “51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

Rev 5:8-“And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

Hebrews 1:6 “And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.”

Revelation shows Jesus being honored or worshipped in exactly the same way that God is. Notice, for instance, the way in which the inhabitants of heaven worship God:

“After this I looked, and lo, in heaven an open door! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, ‘Come up hither, and I will show you what must take place after this.’ At once I was in the Spirit, and lo, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne! And he who sat there appeared like jasper and carnelian, and round the throne was a rainbow that looked like an emerald. Round the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clad in white garments, with golden crowns upon their heads. From the throne issue flashes of lightning, and voices and peals of thunder, and before the throne burn seven torches of fire, which are the seven spirits of God; and before the throne there is as it were a sea of glass, like crystal. And round the throne, on each side of the throne, are four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind: the first living creature like a lion, the second living creature like an ox, the third living creature with the face of a man, and the fourth living creature like a flying eagle. And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all round and within, and day and night they never cease to sing, ‘Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!’ And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever; they cast their crowns before the throne, singing, ‘Worthy art thou, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for thou didst create all things, and by thy will they existed and were created.’” Revelation 4:1-11

The Old Testament says something similar:

“Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.” 1 Chronicles 29:11

In the very next chapter of Revelation, John sees all creation giving the Lord Jesus the very same honor or worship:

“And I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals; and I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, ‘Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?’ And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it, and I wept much that no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. Then one of the elders said to me, ‘Weep not; lo, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.’ And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders, I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth; and he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints; and they sang a new song, saying, ‘Worthy art thou to take the scroll and to open its seals, for thou wast slain and by thy blood didst ransom men for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and hast made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on earth.’ Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, ‘Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!’ And I heard EVERY CREATURE in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all therein, saying, ‘To him who sits upon the throne AND TO THE LAMB be blessing and honor and glory and might for ever and ever!’ And the four living creatures said, ‘Amen!’ and the elders fell down and worshiped.”Revelation 5:1-14

The scriptures are clear that only God should be worshipped and there is only one true God. Yet the Father approved of Jesus even though He received worshiped otherwise He wouldn’t have said in Matthew 17:5 “While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.” Moreover, the Bible is clear God is a jealous God.

The Holy Bible emphatically states that God alone is to receive sacred service or latreuo:

Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve (kai auto mono latreuseis).” Matthew 4:8-10; cf. Luke 4:8

Jesus is given sacred service or latreuo:

“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve (latreusousin) him:And they shall see his face (to prosopon autou); and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.”Revelation 22:1-5

Hebrews 1:6 “And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.” (read a non NWT Bible or a NWT 1970 Bible) Why would the Father have the angels worship a Jesus and commit idolatry if He was a created being?

Titus 2:13-14 “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” (Paul calls Jesus our “hope” in 1 Timothy 1:1. Paul uses the word “appearing” in 2 Thess. 2:8;1 Tim. 6:14; 2 Tim. 1:10; 2 Tim. 4:1; & 4:8 in relation to Jesus.  Jesus is called “Saviour” in 1 Tim. 6:4; Titus 3:6 & Titus 1:4. Cr. Psalms 130:7-8; Ezekiel 37:23; Exodus 19:5; Deut. 7:6 which are scriptures about Yahweh applied to Jesus in this passage.)

1 John 5:20 “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” (1 John 1:1-3; 5:11; 5:12; 5:13 relates Jesus to life)

2 Peter 1:1 “Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:” ( 2 Peter 1:11 reads “For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ”. Who is the subject of the passage? Jesus Christ, correct? It has almost the exact same construction as 2 Peter 1:1, which reads in the Greek “tou theou hemon kai sotaros Iesou Christou” [Source].  Compared to 2 Peter 1:11 which reads  “tou kuriou hemon kai sotaros Iesou Christou” [Source] Did you notice the exact one-to-one correspondence between these passages? What differentiate the two is the substitution of “kuriou” for “theou”. No one questions the translation of “our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ” at 1:11; but why question the translation of “our God and Savior, Jesus Christ” at 1:1? Consistency in translation demands that we read the passage without any biases or prejudices to interfere with our rendering of God’s Word.)

John 1:18 (ISV) “No one has ever seen God. The unique God, who is close to the Father’s side, has revealed him.” (“monogenés,” which is translated “begotten” in the KJV, can mean one-and-only; “one of a kind,” or unique” [Source]. Hebrews 11:17 reads “By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten [monogenés] son,” However Abraham had another son named Ishmael which indicates “monogenés” does not necessarily mean “only begotten”.)

Jesus calls Himself “I AM.”(Read a non NWT Bible)

Exodus 3:14 – “And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.”

John 8:58-59 “58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am [Gr. ego eimi].59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.”

John 18:4-6 “Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he [Gr. ego eimi]. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he[Gr. ego eimi], they went backward, and fell to the ground.”

How was Jesus’ claim to be the Son of God understood by His listeners?

John 5:18- “18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

John 10:28-33-“28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.30 I and my Father are one.31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

Is Jesus really the archangel Michael as the Watchtower teaches?

If Jesus is the first and highest of all created creatures, as the Watchtower teaches and if Jesus in His prehumen state was the archangel Michael, then why is Michael called “one of the chief princes” in Daniel 10:13? Doesn’t this show that Michael is one among equals?

The Watchtower uses 1 Thessalonians 4:6 to support their doctrine that Jesus is the archangel Michael. But if using an archangel’s voice makes Jesus an archangel, to be consistent wouldn’t having God’s trumpet make Him God?

How does one’s relationship with Christ affect his position before God?

Heb 13:13- “13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.”

Can one know Jesus personally?

Is it proper to pray to Jesus?

John 14:14-“14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Acts 7:59-60- “59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.”

Acts 9:20-21-20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.21 But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?

Acts 22:17-19-“17 And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;18 And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me.19 And I said, Lord [Jesus], they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee:

Rom 10:9,11-13-That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

1 Cor 1:2- “Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their’s and our’s:”

2 Cor 12:8-9- “8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

1 Ti 1:12- “12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;”

Rev 22:20- “20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Is Jesus a created god or a created Mighty God (Isaiah 9:6) created by Yahweh?

“Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.” (Isaiah 43:10)

Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any. (Isaiah 44:8)

am the LORD [Yahweh], and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: (Isaiah 45:5)

Isn’t God alone who is good?

17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? 18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.” Mark 10:17-18

“3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.” Revelation 15:3-4

“13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. 14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; 15 and killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.” Acts 3:13-15

“26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;” Hebrews 7:26

“21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 24 who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.” 1 Peter 2:21-25

“11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.” (John 10:11, 14)

What form did Jesus assume when coming to earth as a man?

Phil 2:5-7- “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:”

Early Christian writers on the deity of Jesus.

Ignatius of Antioch [was believed to be a disciple of John the Apostle (c. 50–117,)]: For our God, Jesus the Christ, was conceived by Mary according to God’s plan, both from the seed of David and of the Holy Spirit. (Ignatius, Letter to the Ephesians, 18.2. Translation from Michael Holmes, Apostolic Fathers, 197).

Polycarp of Smyrna [was also believed to be a disciple of John the Apostle (69–155)]: Now may the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the eternal high priest himself, the Son of God Jesus Christ, build you up in faith and truth . . ., and to us with you, and to all those under heaven who will yet believe in our Lord and God Jesus Christ and in his Father who raised him from the dead. (Polycarp, Philippians, 12:2. Holmes, AF, 295)

Justin Martyr (100–165): And that Christ being Lord, and God the Son of God, and appearing formerly in power as Man, and Angel, and in the glory of fire as at the bush, so also was manifested at the judgment executed on Sodom, has been demonstrated fully by what has been said. (Justin Martyr, Dialogue with Trypho, 128. Translation from Alexander Roberts and James Donaldson, Ante-Nicene Fathers, I:264)

Tatian (110–172): We do not act as fools, O Greeks, nor utter idle tales when we announce that God was born in the form of man. (Tatian, Address to the Greeks, 21. ANF, II:74)

Melito of Sardis (d. c. 180): He that hung up the earth in space was Himself hanged up; He that fixed the heavens was fixed with nails; He that bore up the earth was born up on a tree; the Lord of all was subjected to ignominy in a naked body – God put to death! . . . [I]n order that He might not be seen, the luminaries turned away, and the day became darkened—because they slew God, who hung naked on the tree. . . . This is He who made the heaven and the earth, and in the beginning, together with the Father, fashioned man; who was announced by means of the law and the prophets; who put on a bodily form in the Virgin; who was hanged upon the tree; who was buried in the earth; who rose from the place of the dead, and ascended to the height of heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father. (Melito, 5. ANF, VIII:757)

Irenaeus of Lyons (120–202): For I have shown from the Scriptures, that no one of the sons of Adam is as to everything, and absolutely, called God, or named Lord. But that He is Himself in His own right, beyond all men who ever lived, God, and Lord, and King Eternal, and the Incarnate Word, proclaimed by all the prophets, the apostles, and by the Spirit Himself, may be seen by all who have attained to even a small portion of the truth. Now, the Scriptures would not have testified these things of Him, if, like others, He had been a mere man. . . . He is the holy Lord, the Wonderful, the Counselor, the Beautiful in appearance, and the Mighty God, coming on the clouds as the Judge of all men; — all these things did the Scriptures prophesy of Him. (Irenaeus, Against Heresies, 3.19.2. ANF, I:449)

Clement of Alexandria (c. 150–215): This Word, then, the Christ, the cause of both our being at first (for He was in God) and of our well-being, this very Word has now appeared as man, He alone being both, both God and man—the Author of all blessings to us; by whom we, being taught to live well, are sent on our way to life eternal. . . . . . . The Word, who in the beginning bestowed on us life as Creator when He formed us, taught us to live well when He appeared as our Teacher; that as God He might afterwards conduct us to the life which never ends. (Clement of Alexandria, Exhortation to the Heathen, 1. ANF, II:173)

Tertullian (c. 160–225): For God alone is without sin; and the only man without sin is Christ, since Christ is also God. (Tertullian, Treatise on the Soul, 41. ANF, III:221)

Hippolytus (170–235): The Logos alone of this God is from God himself; wherefore also the Logos is God, being the substance of God. (Hippolytus, Refutation of All Heresies, 10.29. ANF, V:151)

Caius (180–217) [in response to those who would question the deity of Christ]: Perhaps what they allege might be credible, did not the Holy Scriptures, in the first place, contradict them. And then, besides, there are writings of certain brethren older than the times of Victor, which they wrote against the heathen in defense of the truth, and against the heresies of their time: I mean Justin and Miltiades, and Tatian and Clement, and many others, in all which divinity is ascribed to Christ. For who is ignorant of the books of Irenaeus and Melito, and the rest, which declare Christ to be God and man? All the psalms, too, and hymns of brethren, which have been written from the beginning by the faithful, celebrate Christ the Word of God, ascribing divinity to Him. (Caius, Fragments, 2.1. ANF, V:601)

Origen (c. 185–254): Jesus Christ . . . in the last times, divesting Himself (of His glory), became a man, and was incarnate although God, and while made a man remained the God which He was. (Origen, De Principiis, Preface, 4. ANF, IV:240)

Novatian of Rome (210–280) For Scripture as much announces Christ as also God, as it announces God Himself as man. It has as much described Jesus Christ to be man, as moreover it has also described Christ the Lord to be God. Because it does not set forth Him to be the Son of God only, but also the Son of man; nor does it only say, the Son of man, but it has also been accustomed to speak of Him as the Son of God. So that being of both, He is both, lest if He should be one only, He could not be the other. For as nature itself has prescribed that he must be believed to be a man who is of man, so the same nature prescribes also that He must be believed to be God who is of God. . . . Let them, therefore, who read that Jesus Christ the Son of man is man, read also that this same Jesus is called also God and the Son of God. (Novatian, On the Trinity, 11. ANF, V:620)
